Diaby’s Time At Arsenal Is Over

Abou Diaby, who has been at the club for 10 years, has left the club after making 180 first-team appearances and scoring 19 goals. Diaby will forever be remembered as a player who struggled tremendously with injuries, and would’ve surely been a club great had his set backs not have been so severe.

In the last 4 seasons Diaby has only managed to make 22 appearances. In fact, since signing with the Gunners he has suffered 42 injuries and spent most of his time on the treatment table recovering.

Even though he made a breakthrough in the U21 squad towards the end of the season, Diaby was still deemed far off a return to the first team.

Wenger’s commitment towards Diaby is more than impressive considering the fact that very few managers would have kept such a fragile player around for so long. The Frenchman has been with the club since 2006 and spent almost 1300 days out injured. That adds up to almost three and a half years not playing.

Academy players Jack Jebb, Austin Lipman, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill and Josh Vickers have also left the club after reaching the end of their contracts.

We wish Diaby and all the rest of the lads all the best in the future.
