Debuchy Suffers Heavy Knock For Arsenal

Mathieu Debuchy has suffered a heavy injury that could put him out of action for the next two months, after landing awkwardly to an attempted header in Arsenal’s Barclays Premier League fixture against Manchester City last weekend, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal were left frustrated despite a good performance against City, but the final result did not help either side. Chelsea won their fixture against Swansea, and that takes them to a perfect total of 12 points from 4 matches so far. Debuchy’s injury in the second half did not help the cause, as the Gunners will now face a busy schedule with the Champions League and domestic cups. Calum Chambers will fill in for Debuchy vs Villa today, as the French man may not return until December.

Debuchy career hit its high with Lille, as he simultaneously established his place in the French national side. Further, his entry into England was through Newcastle United last winter, when the Magpies signed him for a fee of £5.5 million. He joined his former Lille teammate and close friend Yohan Cabaye, who had already become an influential figure at St. James Park. However, Cabaye left for greener pastures to Paris Saint Germain, and Debuchy also looked to move from crisis struck Newcastle. The 29-year old nearly played all games for the French side at the World Cup in Brazil, and helped Didier Deschamps’side reach the quarter-finals, where they lost to the eventual champions Germany.
