Chambers Impresses Yet Again

Calum Chambers has impressed the football community once again, this time in his UEFA Champions League debut for Arsenal against Besiktas in Turkey, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal earned a draw against Besitkas on Tuesday night, but the night was sour for the London based side due to Aaron Ramsey being sent off late in the second half. The Welshman, who has been a massive influence in the squad, will now miss the crucial second leg at the Emirates Stadium. Arsene Wenger is also missing the impact of the German players – Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski. The trio were victorious in their journey with the national squad at the World Cup, and are a week or two behind their Arsenal team mates in their fitness levels. This is giving players like Chambers the opportunity to impress the officials at the club, and Wenger will surely use them as the number of games increase with the progression of the season.

Chambers was one of the starlets that emerged from Mauricio Pocchetino’s Southampton in the last two campaigns. The defender at a young age is quick on his feet, and comfortable to defend those high balls that trouble central defenders usually. The 19-year old began his career as a youth player for the Saints, and went on to play for the senior side before Wenger spotted his potential and signed him for £16 million earlier this summer.
