Chamberlain Wary Of Arsenal Defence

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has criticised the Arsenal defence, and has suggested that while all players are thriving under the tactics of progressive attack under Arsene Wenger’s ideology, the defence could cost them dearly as the season progresses into a vital period, according to the Daily Mail.

Chamberlain has been struggling to get over his injuries, and has been troubled by knocks throughout his spell at Arsenal. The talented youngster’s pace and massive potential has meant the role as a super sub has been handed to him more often than that of a starting position. Having said that, the England international is finally settling into life at the Emirates Stadium, and is aware of the fact that only performances and contributions on the pitch will earn him a longer stay at the historic club and a prolonged stretch of starts in the 1st team. Players like Abou Diaby showed similar potential in their careers, but the Frenchman could not recover from long term injuries that disrupted his spell at the club.

The Gunners rescued a point against Tottenham this past weekend, and will look to win their Champions League encounter against Galatasaray on Wednesday. Wenger will be without star midfielder Aaron Ramsey who has joined the injury list alongside club skipper Mikel Arteta. This is an important game for the club, after losing their opening tie against Borussia Dortmund in Germany. Nothing less than a victory will suffice, as Arsenal look to rescue another precarious European campaign.
