Can Wilshere Come Back From The Injury List This Season?

Not sure what it will take for Arsenal to start pointing some fingers when it comes to injury. You’ve probably lost count when it comes to the seasons influenced by injuries and the players who got injured right after spending months in recovery. The list looks endless as the Gunners continue to have one of the worst recovery systems in Europe. Can it simply be blamed on bad luck when you see players all over the world dealing with similar issues Arsenal players have. It’s hard to believe that all those players who have dealt with muscle damage, ligament damage, knee problems and more are just lucky compared to Arsenal’s players.

Why this article? Because of what the Daily Mail just reported. Apparently, Jack Wilshere is going to miss the entire season because his recovery did not go well. It`s not just that. There’s also the fact that Rosicky picked up a thigh injury that will most likely end his Arsenal career as he is set to leave in the summer. Getting back to the unfortunate story of Jack Wilshere, it would be very sad to see such a talented player lose yet more time because of a terrible run of injury.

As predicted by us in a previous article the England international will most likely be out for the rest of the season and all because of an ankle problem that started back in October 2009. Since then he has spent a total of 840 days in and out of the infirmary. That`s more than two years in his 6 year Arsenal career. Thank God he is just 24. The problem is that his future is not looking as bright as it did back when he started playing for Wenger.

We’ve put together a top five most injured Arsenal players who are still with the club right now and here is how things turned out (keep in mind that these injury days are all spread across several seasons meaning that they prevented the players from being there on several important occasions):

  1. Tomás Rosicky – 936 days and counting
  2. Jack Wilshere – 840 days and counting
  3. Aaron Ramsey – 485 days
  4. Kieran Gibbs – 444 days
  5. Theo Walcott – 395 days

In addition to these players there are two other names worth mentioning. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who since 2013 spent almost as much as Walcott in the infirmary (384 days) even though he is just 22-years-old and Abou Diaby who was simply unrecoverable. He is no longer with Arsenal but the 1366 days spent out on injury make him worth mentioning him in this article
