Campbell Ready To Fight For Top Spot With Former Arsenal Striker

Arsenal might consider selling Joel Campbell after a couple of failed attempts to integrate him in the team. If chances were what the winger was missing, he is now in search of his form which is nowhere near what was expected of him. Even if he did score his first goal for the Gunners, he disappeared from the game on several occasions and gave the impression that Arsenal were playing in 10 instead of 11. Because of that and also because of the player’s desire to spend time on the pitch, a move could be in place. What is ironic is that Campbell could see opposition in Podolski, Wenger’s former left winger. Currently playing for Galatasaray, the 30-year-old is a team regular and has been moved to the other side of the pitch, side on which Campbell should feel most comfortable.

According to Squawka, it has not been yet decided if the 23-year-old will go to Besiktas or Galatasaray with both clubs interested in signing the Costa Rican permanently. It is hard to say if Besiktas would be a better choice as the competition is strong there as well. The Turks have Quaresma on the right who despite being 32, still has what it takes to keep up with any adversary.

Even with Podolski or Quaresma, Campbell would still have a bigger chance there of making first team appearances. If Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain return, and they will return, there is no place in the team for Campbell. Since he started his professional career, the winger was at his best in Greece. There is where he scored the most and where he determined Wenger to give him a chance. Unfortunately, that chance has an expiration date which is probably this December.
