Bastia Interfere With Arsenal’s Plans

Arsenal were linked to the Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani on several occasions during the past few weeks. Despite the fact that Cavani denied a possible move to Emirates, there was still hope that Wenger will land the much sought-after star player the Gunners were looking out for over the past year. Unfortunately, according to Metro, Cavani’s transfer is now off the table after Ibrahimovic picked up a bad injury. PSG’s top goal scorer is uncertain of his future thus meaning that the French side will have to wait and see what happens. With the transfer window closing in two weeks, it is difficult to believe Cavani will be allowed to leave.

Even though some say that it was close to impossible for Arsenal to sign the Uruguayan, statistics beg to differ. The Gunners have had one of the most successful campaigns in over a decade, managing to sign important players who are either very promising or highly experienced. Wenger will now have to wait at least until the end of the week in order to see if there is any purpose in spending time trying to sign Cavani. With little time left, it is imperative for the Gunners to secure a striker to offer Giroud some competition. Sanogo has failed to impress and will probably be used as a third option for the starting line-up. Currently, the most viable target Arsenal have is Marco Reus. The 25 year old German who missed the World Cup due to injury is set to leave Dortmund before his buy-out clause is decreased considerably.
