Arteta To Leave Emirates

The Gunners might have to bend the rules a bit if they plan on keeping Arteta at the Emirates. The Spaniard who has yet to agree on a deal with Arsenal, looks to have been given the option of signing a long term deal with Real Sociedad where David Moyes is currently manager. According to the Daily Star, the Gunner could be very tempted to move back to his home country to work with his former manager who is coaching his former team. Even though London has been his home for the last 5 years, it will be hard to refuse the opportunity of going back to Spain where he could be managed by the man who introduced him to the Premier League.

Arsenal’s 12 month policy regarding players over 30 could be the end of their collaboration with Mikel Arteta though. Just as it happened with Sagna, contracts are very unlikely to be negotiated differently. A year is the most the 32 year old can get. His injuries from this season and his drop in form will surely not contribute to Wenger’s willingness to bend the rules. Add to that the fact that Arteta already thought of leaving at the beginning of the season and you end up with a very likely outcome. The Spaniard will probably be let go if the Gunners finally managed to sign a defensive midfielder. Schneiderlin looks very close to the Emirates and with Wenger looking to bring in two midfielders this summer, chances of Arteta settling for a 12 month deal are slim.
