Arteta Not Enjoying Life At Arsenal

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is struggling to enjoy life at the Emirates Stadium, after admitting the pressure of playing for the Gunners is getting the better of him since his move from Everton in 2011.

Arsenal have been under constant pressure in the 2nd half of this season. The club built high hopes for the supporters when good results began coming thick and fast, and suddenly, a team that was touted as only a UEFA Champions League qualifier was gunning for the Barclays Premier League title. The squad depth was always a question mark, after Arsene Wenger could not manage to sign another striker to partner Olivier Giroud. The France international played impressively, but ran out of steam as a result of an overload of matches. Wenger’s men were then knocked out of the Champions League convincingly, and results faded away subsequently in the Premier League.

Since the injury to Abou Diaby and Alex Song’s departure, Arteta has been deployed often as the holding midfielder, despite lack of physical strength needed for that position. The Spaniard is known for his link up play in the midfield and sits between the creative and defensive midfielders. Arsenal are firmly out of the title race, and face a tough battle against Everton for the fourth and final Champions League spot. Despite his frustrations it is hard to see Arteta leaving Arsenal.
