Arsenal Youngster Going Nowhere

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that 17-year-old Jeff Reine-Adelaide will not be loaned out next season. The youngster has impressed in the two showings he’s made so far during the clubs pre-season tour, and the attacking midfielder is now expected to play a part in the Arsenal set-up next season, potentially in Arsenal’s under-21 side.

“He will definitely be here,” said Wenger after the match. “He is 17 years old and looks very promising, but he needs to work with us now for a year with the first team, to play with the U21s and develop. There is a fantastic potential there and he will stay with us.”

“I don’t know [about him playing in the first team].”

“Honestly, I don’t know. But for me it was a good opportunity to watch him today.”

“In some situations, of course, he has the game of a 17 year old, but on the other hand he has shown great potential as well.”

“He looks very advanced physically and I’m sure that he has learnt a lot from these two days.”

“Reine-Adelaide is something special you know.”

“He is a great talent and when he came on you could see that – 17 years old let’s not forget that. In fact I don’t remember how I played at 17 but I didn’t play like that!”

“I like Alex Iwobi. Good attitude, efficient player. Maybe not so flashy but he understands the game. He is very efficient and works for the team.”

“Akpom had chances. Isaac Hayden can play too. It is good we have these types of games as we see our young players.
“It is exciting to work with these players. You can imagine how they will look in two or three years for the club. That is always exciting.”
