Arsenal Will Not Win Title Claims Former Hero

The reigning FA Cup winners have strengthened this summer, bringing in two strikers in the form of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck. They have also signed defenders Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy that further strengthens Arsene Wenger’s squad for the current season.

However, both Chelsea and Man City, many bookmakers favourite for the title, have also been astute in the transfer market this summer. Both teams have signed quality players and Arsenal don’t stand a chance of winning the title ahead of them, says Alan Smith in a report published by talkSPORT a few days back.

Former Gunner Smith said, “Another trophy would be great this season, but I can’t see them winning the title, I really can’t. They’re still a few furlongs behind Chelsea and Manchester City, as well as they might have done in the summer transfer window.”

He added, “I think they have moved forward with the signings of Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Calum Chambers, but I still think they are weak in terms of protecting the back-four. Realistically you’re looking at another top-four finish, and maybe they can nick a cup again, but unfortunately I still don’t see them as title challengers.”
