Arsenal Waltz Past Ludogorets In Champions League

Arsenal were in irresistible form last night at Emirates Stadium as they blew away Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad 6-0 in their Champions League Group A clash. Mesut Ozil was undeniably the star of the show with his second half hat-trick after Walcott and Sanchez had given the Gunners a 2-0 half time lead. Oxlade-Chamberlain added the other goal in the first minute of the second half to complete the Arsenal scorers.

Walcott scored with a rare curling super strike from outside the box, Sanchez scored first with a beautiful chip on 12 minutes and Chamberlain banged in a loose ball to put the game away. It was Ozil’s first career hat-trick and the German magician emphasized his class with a sweet left-footed volley for his third goal. The manager was clearly delighted with the performance from his men and he had this to say about the match as reported by the BBC,

“Our confidence is stronger with every win but we have to keep the vigilance and the urgency to bring that into the next game.

“Let’s not be too quick on the verdict. We have a strong squad and a strong spirit, but you have to take care of it and keep your feet on the ground. The only way to win something big is to focus on the next one and work on humility.

“I feel that at the moment because we win game after game our confidence is high. Maybe we get over dodgy periods with less psychological damage.

“In the first half, it looked like a difficult game because they were dangerous going forward; they had good technique in short space; they are quick on the counter attack.

“I believe it was not easy but in the second half we took complete control of the game. I think we could have scored more.”

So Arsenal have certainly turned their form around after starting the season with a loss and a tie and immediately falling 5 points behind the leaders in the Premier League. Arsene Wenger looks to have a solid defense and plenty of options in midfield and attack so could this be the season that they break through and win the title or the Champions League?
