Arsenal vs Liverpool: Player Ratings

Arsenal recorded a 0-0 draw with Liverpool last night in a game that could be described as a game of two halves. Liverpool maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League and will probably look back on the game with content after Arsenal failed to capitalise on several chances. However, Liverpool weren’t short on their chances either, the Merseyside club came close on various occasions – but Arsenal’s Petr Cech stood firm at the time of asking.

Liverpool dominated the first half but thanks to Petr Cech’s heroics they failed to find the net. The former Chelsea goalkeeper kept out brilliant efforts from Christian Benteke and Philippe Coutinho – the Brazilian also hit the bar after just 3 minutes.

Arsenal were rocked when Aaron Ramsey’s early strike was ruled out for offside, a questionable decision. But the Gunners dominated much of the second half, with Alexis Sanchez hitting the post and Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet producing a fine reflex save from Olivier Giroud.

The Reds will be delighted with a third successive clean sheet on the back of victories against Stoke City and Bournemouth, while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be equally pleased by the character shown by his side after a difficult first half. Though it has to be said, the point is better suited for Liverpool.
