Arsenal Veteran Ready To Return Home

Arsenal’s 34 year old midfielder who signed a one year contract extension back in May is expected to leave for Sparta Prague where club owner Daniel Kretinsky is waiting for him with open arms. According to TalkSport, Rosicky does not feel comfortable not playing much at all and would prefer to return home where he started playing football almost 20 years ago. Back in May he sat down with Wenger and discussed a one year extension to his expiring contract which was due to finish at the end of June. He will be Arsenal’s player until 2016 if the player decides he feels at peace with the fact that is no longer a first choice or even a second choice to be fair.

Rosicky who has made 245 appearances for the Gunners, did not have a massive impact on the team’s performances in terms of statistics. He has only scored 28 goals and provided 22 assists which is not that great for the player who was expected to become one of the best game coordinators in the world. Even so, he was always valued by Wenger and was offered support during the tough times. It is very likely that even with the contract extension, if the Czech international does request to be allowed to leave, he will be granted that option by the club who likely will not get in the way of him returning home.

With Rosicky’s departure, youngsters like Gedion Zelalem will get the chance to grow. This is what happened with Coquelin and Bellerin who are now top picks on Wenger’s list. Even though the Czech international will be missed if he leaves, it might just be time for Arsenal to go through some important changes.
