Arsenal Turning To Lyon For Striking Option?

Arsenal Turning To Lyon For Striking Option?

With the attack being the most important position right now for Arsenal to strengthen in, the Daily Star reports that Alexandre Lacazette is increasingly becoming a very viable solution with some bookies making him a 2-1 shot to join the Gunners. The Frenchman was on Wenger’s list even since last season when he took the French league by storm. Lyon were reluctant to sell and Wenger placed all his trust in Giroud and Welbeck. Unfortunately Welbeck will be out for a big part of the season to come and Giroud needs help/competition. Lacazette is valued at £29.75m making him an affordable target. Getting the Frenchman and Xhaka would be a success by any standards. If the idea of signing Higuain is really something Wenger was prepared to do then surely the transfer budget would allow Arsenal to go even further and sign Lacazette and maybe a defender. Sticking with the 25-year-old goal machine would also be more than enough and even if he scores close to what he did for Lyon he would be welcomed. How Lacazette would fit into the Arsenal line-up remains to be seen but if he is scoring goals Wenger will get him on the field and build the side around him.

The situation around Gonzalo Higuain is looking more clear now as on Sunday night Sky Sports News HQ reported that according to “Sky sources” Juventus are indeed going to complete the deal to buy the striker from Napoli for the reported fee of £79million. The acquisition of Lacazette for around £30million then looks like a good deal. You would have to say that £79million seems too much for a 28-year-old striker (Higuain) who has never played in the Premier League and it seems too much for Arsenal who could do a lot of great things with that kind of money. Monday should make the situation clearer and leave Arsenal knowing what their options are.
