Arsenal To Sign Roma Defender

Arsenal To Sign Roma Defender

Wenger looks keen on making a move on Roma’s Alessio Romagnoli who impressed last year while playing on loan for Sampdoria.

Arsenal have the chance of signing one of the most promising young defenders in European football. Roma’s Alessio Romagnoli who turned 20 years old at the beginning of 2015, could be ready to leave Serie A and join the Gunners who are keen on bringing a possible replacement for Mertesacker. The German defender looks a bit out of touch with the team and could get even worse during next season. His form is in decline and even though he is just 30, he looked to struggle a bit during last season. Despite being one of Arsenal’s captains, he is not a fan favorite. Many considered him unworthy of being the main man in the Gunners’ defense and waited for a replacement for him since he moved to Emirates.

According to Squawka, Romagnoli could come and silently replace the German International who might have lost some of his will to play after winning the World Cup. The Italian youngster who has been Roma’s player even since he started playing football, has increased his value considerably over the years and may now be sold to make a profit. He is valued at about £24million by the Romans but he is very likely to be sold for half that. Arsenal apparently have to battle it out with AC Milan for the youngster who is also a member of Italy’s U21 team and promises a lot for the future. If rumors are true when it comes to his transfer, Arsenal should have the upper hand though considering Roma would not want to strengthen their direct adversaries.
