Arsenal might finally get an experienced and versatile midfielder to tend to the gaps left behind by Fabregas and Song. Since the two left, the Gunners have had a hard time finding the proper formula to balance defensive and offensive responsibilities. According to Metro, Wenger is planning on making a £30million offer for the 28 year old Moutinho who feels like he has been one of the most underappreciated players of his generation. The Portuguese international is seen as the best replacement for Arteta who has little over a year left of his contract. Even though he is the captain, he will be looking to pass that honor to someone else at the beginning of next season.

Moutinho expressed his frustration with his current club even though it is mostly his fault for ending up there. The 28 year old misses tough competition and will be open to talks with Arsenal. The Gunners are allegedly the first in line to sign Monaco’s player who looks like he has been waiting for a while to come to the Premier League.

Leaving aside his price tag which most say it is a bit over the top, Moutinho would be an excellent addition to the team. Even though he is fairly similar to Wilshere and Ramsey as far as playing styles go, he is still a bit more defensive and composed when it comes to taking care of the mid-section of the pitch.
