Arsenal have been looking for a permanent left back for a while now as Monreal and Gibbs fail to bring consistency at the highest levels of the game. Both had their moments but were unable to establish themselves as determining players in Wenger’s squad. Gibbs who was once one of the most promising full-backs in the world was taken down by injury too many times and lost his edge while Monreal struggled and was mostly a first pick because of the lack of options. With the right side secured by three serious contenders, Wenger now has the chance to improve one of the most neglected parts of the defensive line.

According to Squawka, Faouzi Ghoulam is going to be offered a deal destined to have him end his current spell with Napoli. The 24 year old could be tempted to join Arsenal who would offer a bigger salary and the opportunity to perform in the strongest domestic competition in the world. Making it to the Premier League is definitely something the Algerian international wants especially now that Napoli failed to make it to the Champions League.

Ghoulam already turned down Chelsea apparently which sounds about right considering the fact that Azpilicueta will not be replaced anytime soon. Napoli’s player seems well aware of that and is now waiting to start negotiations with the Gunners who will need to agree to terms with the Italian side who paid £5million for the 24 year old left back who was brought in from Saint-Etienne. If rumors are true and both Napoli and the player rejected Chelsea’s £10m+ offer, Wenger will have to raise the bar.
