Arsenal To Open Talks With Southampton And Manchester City?

Wenger might be on to a domestic solution when it comes to filling in the gaps shown against Liverpool. Apparently, two Premier League players are high up on the Frenchman’s list who could get the chance to bring these to excellent players to the Emirates for the same price Lyon requested for Lacazette. The first and probably most important move is that for Southampton captain Jose Fonte. The Euro winner who is also in contact with Manchester United for a move is said to have refused a contract extension from the Saints in favour of a possible departure. He is still tied up to Southampton until 2018 but it should not be that big of a problem to convince his club to let him go given the fact that he is 32. If he does stay until 2018 he will not be worth as much as he is now. According to the Daily Mirror, he is being pursued by both the Gunners and Manchester United. Wenger’s side should have the upper hand though as his chances of playing are a lot higher at the Emirates.

Jose Fonte has been involved with English football since 2007 and since then has played for Crystal Palace and Southampton. He has only suffered one major injury in his career but seems to have recovered very well since the problems he had affecting his knee in 2013. Other than that, there’s no record of him missing games due to health problems. He has the experience, he is valued at around £10million and he is willing to leave. Even if he is a temporary solution he could still do a lot of good for at least a season or two.

The other very useful player who could join Arsenal is Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony. This incredibly strong striker could be available for a reasonable fee given his poor performance at Manchester City and he does have goals in him and has had success in the Premier League at Swansea City just not at Manchester City . Bony might be looking to move as he hasn’t had many chances either with or replacing Aguero. Apparently he is no longer part of Guardiola’s plans and he will be let go if the proper offer is made. The Ivorian striker who will be turning 28 in December is valued at around £15million.

These two guys would be excellent reasonably low cost solutions for Wenger. Because of their experience and their price, could we see Wenger push for a move by the beginning of September? It will be interesting to see if either appeal to Wenger?
