Arsenal To Move On Unexpected Target From Manchester City

It seems that Arsenal are keen on signing Matija Nastasic who has had a hard time finding his place in Manchester City’s line-up. With Sagna and Nasri leaving the Gunners to join City, the relationship between the two rival clubs might be good enough for the Gunners to land the young defender who is set to replace Vermaelen. According to Metro, Wenger is preparing a £16million offer for City’s 21 year old center back who was being monitored by Arsenal even since he was playing for Fiorentina.

Nastasic has managed 34 Premier League appearances and one goal in the two years spent at the Etihad stadium. The Serbian international failed to take Demichelis’s place next to Kompany but even so, City might want to better integrate him in their starting eleven for next season.

Despite Wenger’s generous offer, it is hard to believe the Citizens will accept Arsenal’s bid. Hopefully for the Gunners, they will find an alternative for Nastasic who despite making a good replacement for Vermaelen, is a bit too difficult to land given City’s lack of central defenders.

Nastasic is not the only Manchester City player to get Wenger’s attention. Richards is also on the extended transfer list especially because of his ability to play both as a right back and as a central defender. Steven Caulker was also on the list but he is no longer a solution after signing with QPR.
