Arsenal To Hijack Liverpool’s Move For Lavezzi?

The 29-year-old, Ezequiel Lavezzi joined the French side, PSG in 2012 and has helped the club to back-to-back Ligue 1 titles. In 90 appearances over the past two seasons, Lavezzi has scored 23 goals and also provided 18 assists.

However, the Argentina international may well be sold this summer in order to balance the books at PSG, according to the Daily Star. The Ligue 1 champions have been hit by the Financial Fair Play regulations and are forced to offload some players, especially since they signed David Luiz for an astronomical £50 million.

With talks over a new contract breaking down, it is highly likely that the winger will be on his way out from the French capital before the transfer window closes. Liverpool have been hot on the heels of the Argentinian as they seek a new forward, but Arsenal are also considering a bid to improve their attacking options for the season.

Arsene Wenger needs one more striker at the club to realistically challenge for the title as new signing Alexis Sanchez may need time to settle in England. Lavezzi will be available for £20 million and could be a promising buy despite his age and now that Balotelli looks destined for Liverpool Arsenal might feel the need to move for Lavezzi sooner rather than later.
