Arsenal To Bid For World Cup Star Quintero?

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Colombian international star Juan Quintero, according to Metro, after the young attacking midfielder featured for his country at the FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

The Gunners are reinforcing their squad for the start of the campaign, and after making several signings since the start of the window, Arsene Wenger is getting ready the finalise his squad for the start of the season. Each club is trying to balance their signings based on the number of foreign and domestic players in the squad. Arsenal have brought in Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Alexis Sanchez as foreign players while Calum Chambers has been signed this past week from Southampton as a domestic player.


Quintero began his career in his native Colombia as a youth player for Envigado in 2004. The attacking midfielder signed a professional contract in 2008 and was snapped up three years later by Atletico Nacional. After a short spell at Atletico, he moved to Pescara, before securing a big move to Portugal where Porto signed him in 2013. Quintero has made a total of 34 appearances for Porto in all competitions, and scored 4 goals in the process. The 21-year old has displayed immense confidence in his abilities, but Arsenal will have to spend big money to convince Porto to sell the player they brought in only a year ago not to mention beating out the likes of Manchester United who are also reportedly very interested in the youngster.
