Arsenal Target Southampton Striker

The 24-year-old, Jay Rodriguez is the joint second highest English scorer in the Premier League with 15 goals to his name this season. He is only behind Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and his impressive performances meant that he was likely to be named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the World Cup.

However, he ruptured his knee ligaments against Manchester City last weekend and he is ruled out for six months, which means he will definitely miss the World Cup in Brazil this summer and also the start of next season.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have enquired about the availability of the Englishman as Wenger looks to reinforce his attacking options ahead of next season. However, any move is placed into doubt after Rodriguez was ruled out for around six months.

The Saints are also aware that Rodriguez is attracting attention from the top English teams and are reportedly willing to tie him down to a five-year deal.

Do you think Wenger should make a move for an injured Rodriguez in the summer transfer window?
