Arsenal Target Real Madrid Defender!

The former Liverpool defender, Alvaro Arbeloa spent three years on Merseyside before joining Real Madrid in July 2009. The 31-year-old has spent five seasons at the Bernabeu and has won the La Liga title as well as the Champions League last season.

However, his time at the Spanish capital may be coming to a premature end. The Spaniard has fallen out of favour with boss Carlo Ancelotti, who has settled on Dani Carvajal as his new first-choice right-back.

Arbeloa is keen to leave Madrid this summer with Arsenal closely monitoring his situation, according to Metro. The Gunners want more competition for places at right-back since new signing Calum Chambers is likely to continue to play at centre-back.

Debuchy is Wenger’s only real option at right full-back and so the Frenchman is ready to make a move for Arbeloa. However, he may have to fend off interest from Chelsea to land his man.

The Gunners are also interested in a move for Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.
