Arsenal Target 20 Year Old Defender To Fill In The Massive Defensive Gaps

Wenger has directed his attention towards Empoli’s 20 year old rising star, Daniele Rugani, The young defender who is owned by Juventus as well, has had an impressive season up until now. He attracted a lot of attention including that of Juve who are considering bringing him to Torino for good. According to Metro, an offer will be sent to Italy right after the deal with Villareal is sealed. Arsenal want to make sure Paulista is definitely coming to Emirates so as not to repeat last year’s failed transfer session. Rugani is not a first option but could represent a great long term solution for the Gunners who after losing Vermaelen, have had a tough time filling in the gaps.

Paulista and Rugani come with one major downside though. Both have no European experience which could be a problem for Wenger. Even though both could represent amazing deals, they will still lack the experience of important competitions such as the Champions League. Hopefully Arsenal’s manager will work on that and will help the two reach a decent level of concentration which could allow them to perform under high pressure for long periods of time.

Signing Rugani will become more difficult as time passes though. He seems to be increasing in quality which might determine Juventus to activate their buy-out clause which allows them full ownership of the player.
