Arsenal Successful In Convincing Wenger To Stay?

According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger has given the first indication that he will stay on as manager at Arsenal, after the Frenchman admitted the club have already started the process of rebuilding for next season, and that the officials spend time on that aspect every day.

Wenger has entered the final year of his contract at the club, and the media are increasing the pressure on the manager to decide his future. While reports have claimed that the club have already offered the manager a new contract, Wenger is taking time to make the decision. This could be based on the fact that the manager has not been supported with heavy transfer funds in the last five years. Mesut Ozil became the club’s most expensive player when he was bought from Real Madrid for a fee of £42.5 million.

The manager will want to see some concrete intent from the board, and there is no doubt that European giants will line up if Wenger was to leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer. Paris Saint Germain approached Wenger when Carlo Ancelotti left the job for Madrid, but Wenger turned down the opportunity that time around, opening the door for Laurent Blanc to take over.
