Arsenal Shows Interest In OGC Nice’s Rising Midfield Star

Even if up until now Flamini is the only one who is sure to leave, two other veterans are almost certain they will part ways with Arsenal. Arteta’s contract renewal is not being brought up and Rosicky’s latest injury update points to the fact that he will not get to play again for the Gunners. The Czech international will be out until May when his contract will expire. Even though that leaves Coquelin, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla and Elneny that still might not be enough given the way things turned out this season. Backup will be needed in order to avoid having to use Oxlade-Chamberlain or Chambers out of position. After recent news showed that one of Arsenal’s most important targets – William Carvalho – signed an extension with Sporting, Wenger is directing his attention to one of Liegue 1’s most promising youngsters.

According to Metro, 20-year-old Vincent Koziello has made it to the top of the transfer-wanted list and will be offered a deal in June. The France U21 international has emerged as one of this season’s revelations for Nice where he was featured in 25 games. With a profile similar to that of Arteta, this central midfielder could be a nice addition to Arsenal’s lot. Even if he is brought in to perform at first in the FA Cup and in less important confrontations, he still remains a target that Arsenal should insist on signing. If not for the long string of injuries, the Gunners’ lot looks good so signing an expensive player does not represent a possibility. Knowing Wenger, he will probably sign a high profile defender this summer and that`s it. He might also go for striker but that`s questionable.

Koziello looks good on paper and has a lot going for him right now. The only problem is that his physique might not recommend him to the Premier League. Even though he is the same height as Cazorla, he does not have the same strength. That might prove costly for a central midfielder when dealing with footballers like Barkley, Matic, Yaya Toure and many more. Hopefully the youngster is just one of several other targets Wenger is planning on bidding for in June. One thing is for sure though, someone needs to come to the Emirates and fill in for Flamini, Rosicky and Arteta.
