Arsenal Set To Lose Player To Dortmund

The Gunners seem to have missed another one of their targets as Matthias Ginter seems set on joining Dortmund over the summer. Both Arsenal and Manchester United looked interested in securing the youngster’s signature. The 20 year old defender who made 61 Bundesliga appearances for Freiburg looks set on becoming part of the Dortmund project rather than Wenger’s long term plan. The German international would have made a great addition to the Frenchman’s team which is clearly lacking defensive depth. The many injuries and the constant squad changes are two of the main reasons for which Arsenal have lost the Premier League title despite leading in the standings for almost half the matches.

According to the Daily Express, Ginter was never a priority for Arsenal but he was on their transfer list. Unfortunately the defender who repeatedly expressed his desire to join an important European club, looks set on staying in Germany. There is still hope for a summer transfer though as Arsenal might let one of their defenders leave. This would make a bit more room for Ginter who will not have to face the same competition as he would while at Dortmund. Currently the German side has some of the best defenders in the world. Neven Subotić, Mats Hummels, Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be extremely difficult to be kept on the bench.
