Arsenal Set To Drop Main Summer Target

Arsenal will have to find another solution to fill in the midfield gap which became even more obvious after Arteta’s injury. Unfortunately for the Gunners, one of their main targets is no longer available as Sami Khedira seems set to reach an agreement with Real. With one year left of his contract, Ancelotti assured fans that the 27 year old Khedira will be continuing at the Bernabeu for at least 6 more months. Despite losing his place in Real Madrid’s first team, the World Cup winner will probably stay at least until the winter transfer window. According to Metro, things between him and the club have been solved and the player is once again eager to perform in the white shirt.

Wenger has never made an official offer for Khedira which might mean that he was never that determined to sign him. The German’s high financial expectations which were leaked to the press were probably the reason for which the move did not go down.

With Khedira out of the picture, Arsenal now direct their attention towards other players such as Lars Bender or Luiz Gustavo. Song might also be a solution despite the fact that neither the player nor Wenger seem to think much of such a transfer.

Gustavo looks the closest to the Emirates as the Brazilian could become part of a swap which could include Podolski. The German is keen on leaving after a disappointing run in his seasons spent in London.
