Arsenal Seal Top 3 Finish After Drawing With United

It was a somewhat disappointing game by both teams and Referee Mike Dean had little to do and only showed one yellow card in the game. Even Sanchez who has been the Gunners’ leading man throughout the season had a sub-par performance by his high standards and he along with his team-mates barely registered a shot on target even though United scored 30 minutes into the game with a precise shot by Herrera from Young’s cross.

The Red Devils sort of dominated possession in the first half but with no actual purpose managing to send just one more additional shot towards goal than Arsenal did. The end-match statistics were pretty much even just as the score was. Both teams had stand-out players in Aaron Ramsey and Ashley Young with the Welshman showing that he has matured into a seriously good midfielder and was probably deserving of the Man Of The Match award but not surprisingly former United player Gary Neville gave it to Young. Substitute Theo Walcott also looked lively and pacey after his introduction late in the game and he showed off some sweet ball skills that lead to Blackett’s 82nd minute deflection for the equalizing goal.

All in all it was a fair result which of course favors Arsenal. The Gunners have now secured 3rd spot at least and have avoided the Champions League play-offs which United will now have to deal with to get into the Champions League proper.

Hopefully Arsenal will not have any injury issues from either of their two remaining fixtures against Sunderland and WBA before they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup final on May 30th.
