Arsenal Redirect Focus Towards Carlos Bacca

After missing out on Jamie Vardy who decided to stay with Leicester and after Higuain made the top of the the transfer list for Serie A giants Juventus, Arsenal are directing their attention to 29-year-old striker Carlos Bacca. The 2 time Europa League winner seems keen to leave after AC Milan managed to only finish 7th in Italy’s domestic competition. “It’s my dream to play in the Champions League and I work every day for that. I want to play in it with Milan, but unfortunately we won’t be doing so. It’s one of the subjects I’m talking about with Milan – that we’re not in Europe and I want to play in the Champions League. It depends on Milan’s project this year, on the new investors and the players that arrive. Then we’ll make decisions.”

According to the Independent, the lack of European games and the lack of organization seen surrounding the former Champions League winners got the Colombian pondering a transfer despite being under contract with AC Milan until 2019. He is now the most expensive player in Vincenzo Montella’s lot by being valued at around £21.25m.

AC Milan might be willing to drop the price given the fact that their relationship with Arsenal is pretty decent and given the fact that Wenger could include one of the Gunners’ current lot members in the transaction. A while back reports suggested that Wenger said that Joel Campbell is free to leave if he manages to find a team during the transfer window. It`s hard to tell if such a swap is worth making honestly if you think about how well the Costa Rican performed last season. He might not have been a revelation but he sure did help the team and exceeded expectations to some extent.

Bacca ended the season with 20 goals and 4 assists which is decent considering he is playing in Serie A. his determination to play for trophies might be decisive in his choice which is expected to be revealed next week. Regardless of how good the Colombian is, it would still be nicer to maybe see Lacazette at the Emirates or even Icardi. Despite not having the same physique as Giroud, Bacca has a similar profile and would need a fast-paced partner up front in order to shine. Unfortunately Arsenal don’t have that now.
