Arsenal Prepare Sagna Replacement

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are not only anticipating the departure of Bacary Sagna from the club in the summer, but are also lining up a replacement for the Frenchman in Ivory Coast international and Toulouse full back Serge Aurier, who has rejected approaches from clubs like Paris Saint Germain and Monaco as he prefers the idea of working with Mr Wenger at Arsenal.

Arsenal may face an exodus of some long serving stars like Sagna due to a lacklustre season that began promising so much, but has not delivered towards the end. Arsene Wenger started the season with the boost of having German international Mesut Ozil in the squad, but the magic of the signing has faded in recent weeks, leaving the Gunners in trouble in the league. While they led the table for the best part of six months, the players were running out of steam playing with a thin squad, leaving the door open for Liverpool and Manchester City to make their title charges.

Arsenal are struggling to keep their UEFA Champions League qualification place intact let alone win the title, as Everton are just one point behind, and with a game in hand. Aurier began his career in France with Lens as a youth player, and signed on for them as a senior player in 2009. After spending a few seasons at the club, the 21-year old left for Toulouse, and has played 56 matches for the club, scoring 5 goals.
