Arsenal Move For Mario Mandzukic?

Arsenal have been trying to sign a striker even since last summer. Keeping Bendtner made no difference whatsoever, as the Danish international was unable to rise up to Wenger’s expectations. Giroud was the only true striker the Frenchman had at his disposal which has made it hard for the Gunners to keep up with Liverpool, Chelsea and City.

According to the Daily Express, the North London side may catch a break though as Bayern’s Mario Mandzukic looks keen on leaving Germany. Even if Arsenal have had their eye on Atletico’s Diego Costa amongst others, they will probably redirect their financial efforts towards the Croatian. Chelsea have swooped in and are now in the pole-position to sign Costa for £50million.

Mandzukic has had a great season with Bayern but will no longer be the German side’s first option. With Lewandowski set to move to Munich at the end of the season, Bayern’s 27 year old striker is not keen on being Guardiola’s second choice.

Even though Bayern insist Mandzukic will honor his contract which is set to expire in 2016, rumors have it, a £20 million offer might do the trick. Hopefully Arsenal will be the ones to sign the Croatian who would be both a great replacement and a great partner for Giroud. No other teams seem seriously interested in Mandzukic as yet which is a great sign for the Gunners considering most of their targets chose different destinations during last summer’s transfer window.
