Arsenal Missed Out On Sterling When Brady Turned Down Signing Him

Raheem Sterling’s Liverpool career was impacted by Arsene Wenger, who backed down when it came to signing the Jamaican born England international. The 19 year old was supposed to join Arsenal back in 2010 when he left QPR. According to Metro, the young talent only made it to Liverpool because the Emirates youth academy pulled out of negotiations with Rangers. Arsenal’s former academy manager Liam Brady was responsible for such a huge miss which could have offered Wenger the chance of training one of the most talented players currently performing in European football.

Sterling cost Liverpool just £600,000 and has now increased his price by at least 15 times. He was one of the Premier League’s most impressive youngsters last season, managing to catch the eye each and every time he stepped on the pitch. In recent statements Brady insisted that it was his choice not to bring in Sterling and that the player would, without a doubt have chosen Emirates over Anfield.

The 19 year old could have spared Wenger the trouble of finding a left winger to play alongside Giroud and freshly purchased Alexis Sanchez. With Cazorla and Podolski always looking out of position on that side of the pitch, Arsenal are now looking to bring in a player who is comfortable running up and down the left flank. Unfortunately Sterling is not for sale after being one of Liverpool’s most efficient players.
