Arsenal Miss Out On French Sensation

Arsenal have once again missed out on a long term transfer target, and this time it is Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann, after the player agreed a deal with Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, who will be paying up to £24 million for his services, as reported by Metro.

The transfer window is at its most busy period, and clubs are trying to negotiate deals with long term targets to secure a move, now that the FIFA World Cup has concluded. Most players who participated in the competition took an extended break after the trip to Brazil, and are now making calls on their futures.

One such player was Griezmann who was part of Didier Deschamps’23 man squad that flew to the competition. The winger was picked by the national manager based on his excellent performances for Sociedad last year. The 23-year old has been a loyal player for the Spanish outfit, playing 201 matches and scoring 52 goals in the process.

This window is extremely important for Arsenal, after the side’s impressive performance in the first half of the last year’s campaign. Arsene Wenger has already taken steps to improve the squad by adding Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez to the squad amongst others. Perhaps it may have been Sanchez’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium that turned Griezmann’s head to think he may not get consistent first team action with Arsenal.
