Mario Balotelli was repeatedly linked to Arsenal after insisting he will leave AC Milan this year. According to Metro, Arsenal may see the Italian being spotted next to their logo while on holiday with his girlfriend as a chance to start negotiations with a player who seems to want to come to North London. Despite signing Sanchez who is more versatile as Balotelli, Wenger still needs someone to provide proper competition for Giroud who is currently challenged only by Sanogo.

It seems that Balotelli got dropped down the transfer list after his poor World Cup performances. The 23 year old was seemingly on his way to the Premier League, most likely to Arsenal, but made the Gunners change their mind after the Brazil experiences. AC Milan was hoping to sell him for £30million but are now expected to settle for less than half that amount.

Balotelli is probably now seen as a last resort when it comes to strengthening the attack. His difficult-to-handle character may not be welcomed at Emirates Stadium where things have always been pretty calm. Despite being talented, he is a handful which is not something the Gunners need right now. The 23 year old Italian is also possibly being targeted by Chelsea who might try signing the striker in order to replace either Torres or Demba Ba who will probably leave before the end of the summer.
