Arsenal Make Signing A Striker One Of Their Priorities

Arsene Wenger will have to sign a new striker despite previously denying that any more forwards would be coming to the Emirates this summer. Unfortunately, losing Giroud, has forced Arsenal to rethink their transfer agenda. According to the Daily Mail, three possible solutions are currently available for a transfer. Besides Alessio Cerci and Edinson Cavani, Arsenal can also consider Danny Welbeck who is no longer on the same page with Manchester United. The club’s management is no longer interested in his services and will allow him to leave as long as the right offer comes their way. The only problem with Welbeck’s move to the Emirates could be the tense situation which is rumored to have developed after Wenger’s refusal to allow Vermaelen to move to Old Trafford. The Belgian who was linked to Van Gaal’s new team on several occasions chose Barcelona who were second in line to secure his signature.

Because of this situation, Arsenal may now face trouble when sending an offer to Manchester for Danny Welbeck. Even with Van Gaal ready to allow Welbeck to leave, it is hard to believe United will help one of their main Premier League rivals become more effective as far as the attack goes. Even though the 23 year old has had a relatively low scoring rate, he still managed some excellent performances while performing for United. His contract is set to expire in 2016 and an extension does not seem to be on the horizon. Hopefully Arsenal will be to mend any fences necessary with the administration at Old Trafford and will then be able to take advantage of Welbeck’s contract situation thereby bringing Giroud both the help and the competition he deserves.
