Arsenal Lose Chance To Bring In Their 4th Striker

The Gunners seem to have lost the chance to sign their 4th striker. Marseille’s Andre-Pierre Gignac who has been on Wenger’s transfer list several times across the years has missed his last chance to play for Arsenal. According to Metro, the 28 year old will extend his deal with his current team and will probably end his career in France. With his contract about to expire next summer, Wenger thought it would be a great opportunity to try and get reinforcements. Gignac’s style is very similar to Giroud which means he would have been a great replacement for his fellow compatriot.

Gignac probably knew that moving to London would mean starting all over again. In France, Gignac is already a team regular and scores on a regular basis. Coming to the Emirates would have surely lowered his chances to play and score so often. Even though the 28 year old is in very good shape, it would have been complicated for him to replace either Welbeck or Giroud who despite not being at the top of his form (can’t be really when he has been injured to be fair) , he has a lot more experience with Premier League football.

Hopefully Giroud will return stronger and better after his injury which is keeping him off the pitch until 2015.It is a pity that Gignac decided to extend his stay in France though. He would have been the perfect substitute for either Welbeck or Giroud.
