Arsenal Looking For A Short Term Alternative

The Gunners have been linked to several offensive players over the summer. Signing Alexis Sanchez is not enough though, as Arsenal are still looking to bring in a striker to compete with Giroud for a spot in the starting line-up. According to Metro, Shakhtar Donetsk may offer a viable alternative to meet Wenger’s needs. Bernard could sign a loan deal which will offer him the possibility to perform at the Emirates over the next season. The 21 year old who has already made 18 appearances for the Ukrainian side since moving to Donetsk is not happy with the situation at his club. The civil war started in Shakhtar’s home town seems pretty stressful for the players who have a hard time staying relaxed between games.

The Brazilian international is seen as a decent alternative for Balotelli or Cavani who were both cut from the transfer list after their clubs announced they are not for sale. Bernard has a great chance of signing a 1 year loan deal with Arsenal who could use a versatile player such as him. He can perform in three different positions which will come in handy for the Gunners. Currently valued at £17million, the youngster is still under contract until 2018. Fortunately, the situation at the club will probably allow him to make a definite move to London in case he wants to take on the challenge of Premier League football. Hopefully Wenger will sign Bernard especially with Podolski rumoured to be exiting the club and returning to Germany.
