Arsenal Look Good To Qualify For Champions League Knockout Stages

Arsenal should have Champions League knockout stages qualification in the bag as PSG seem the only team that will pose a problem to the Gunners. Hopefully, they’ve learned their lesson from last season and now the only issue will be their ability to finish 1st rather than to qualify.

Wenger was not present at the draw so the club was represented by club secretary David Miles who, after seeing the way things panned out stated the following:

“We’ve got a good Champions League pedigree. 16 of the last 19 seasons we’ve made it through the group. It’s a great testament to Arsene Wenger.

“Recently we’ve struggled against Barcelona and Bayern Munich but we are pleased with this draw.

“PSG are a strong team. It will be great for our fans to go to venues they haven’t been before.” [Quotes sourced from The Independent].

While he might be right, Arsenal should be thinking about the lot problems they are facing. Wenger has his work cut out for him as the entire defense is or has been in the infirmary. There’s also the matter of scoring goals which hasn’t been sorted out yet despite rumors that La Coruna’s Lucas Perez is on the verge of signing a new deal with the Gunners.

If the lot is complete or if Wenger manages to put together a Champions League starting eleven, Arsenal should not have a problem going through the next stage. PSG is also a team to beat now that the manager was changed and Ibrahimovic left. Once again, the Gunners are their own biggest adversaries.

Arsenal’s first game is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13th and will be played away at Parc Des Princes against PSG. Hopefully by then, the lot will look a lot better than it looks right now.
