Arsenal Look At William Carvalho As Khedira Deal Looks Unlikely

With Sami Khedira’s transfer reaching a dead end, Arsenal will try stealing William Carvalho from rivals Manchester United who have been linked repeatedly to the 22 year old defensive midfielder. According to the Daily Star, Wenger who was monitoring the Portuguese player for quite a while now, will have to up his game considering the previous offer was snubbed by Sporting. Apparently, £24milion are not enough to allow the Portuguese side to let Carvalho leave.

Arsenal are currently rethinking their transfer strategy after Khedira who looked like a sure thing, might be having second thoughts about leaving Real Madrid. With Kroos’s arrival, the German could stay and recreate a part of the winning team with which Germany won the World Cup.

There were rumors that Ozil was sent by Wenger to try and convince Khedira that Arsenal is the best choice for him. To be fair, Real’s midfielder would have a better chance of being a team regular at the Emirates rather than at Santiago Bernabeu. Sporting’s midfielder has a £37million release clause which is unlikely to be matched by any team, including Arsenal and Manchester United who have also been following the young player.

If all fails Arsenal seem to have some offers lined up for Morgan Schneiderlin and Lars Bender who are cheaper to transfer but do not come with the same experience as Khedira. There have been rumors of a possible bid for Luiz Gustavo but nothing too serious came to the sports reporters’ attention.
