Arsenal Is Not For Sale

It is the second time in a couple of months that Aliko Dangote has mentioned Arsenal in one of his public comments. The Nigerian who has an estimated fortune of £12billion which makes him the 67th wealthiest person in the world, has told the press that his interest in buying the London club is real. According to ZapSportz, Dangote has been an Arsenal fan for almost 30 years mostly because his great relationship with former vice-chairman David Dein who could return if the Nigerian takes over.

Dein who is known for his love for Arsenal left the club back in 2007 when Kroenke took over but has been rumored to still have some influence at the Emirates. Even so, it will be difficult to see the Nigerian becoming a primary owner for the Gunners. Kroenke is in for the long run as he has repeatedly stated and will not sell any of the shares that currently make him the number one man at the club. With a majority of 67%, he will hopefully hold on to the club regardless of the financial possibilities that would come with Dangote becoming an investor.

Currently the club is going into the right direction. Since Kroenke took over, Arsenal have built a new stadium, ended the trophy drought and started investing in world class players. There would be no point in messing things up especially considering the fact that Dangote expressed his desire to change the club’s policy which, according to him, is not leading the club in the right direction. The good news is that few people who actually want to invest in a football club go around telling the press about it. The ones who really want to take over do it silently which means Dangote is probably looking for some attention rather than to actually invest in the Emirates club.
