Arsenal In Pole Position To Land German Defender

Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a new right-back for next season with current number one Bacary Sagna not able to agree fresh terms with the club. Sagna’s contract expires at the end of the season and it seems lucrative offers from top European clubs will tempt him to move abroad.

The Gunners have been linked with numerous full-backs in recent months but Metro is reporting that Wenger has made Sebastian Jung a ‘key’ target. The 23-year-old is a German youth international who has spent the last decade with Frankfurt.

The report suggests that Arsenal will make a £7 million move once the window opens at the end of the season. The likes of Roma and both Milan clubs have also shown interest, but his agent has now hinted that Arsenal maybe firm favourites for his signature.

He said, “In England we know Arsenal are very strongly on his trail for the summer. They have had scouts watching him in the Bundesliga. There was interest in the past from Inter, Roma and Milan, but no recent contact.”
