Arsenal Face Battle For Chilean Striker

Arsenal are looking to add another striker to their squad, but their attempts to sign Eduardo Vargas from Napoli are being halted by interest from Valencia, who are keen on signing up the attacker who has been on loan at the Spanish outfit over the last season, according to the Daily Star.

The Gunners have got off to a good start to their Barclays Premier League campaign, as they fought their way back into their fixture against Crystal Palace. The goals on this occasion came courtesy of defender Laurent Koscielny at the stroke of half time and Aaron Ramsey, who scored a late winner to seal the three points for the club. Mathieu Debuchy, Alexis Sanchez and Callum Chambers made their full debuts for the club, while Arsene Wenger chose Yaya Sanogo as the lone striker being assisted with an attacking midfield. However, in the absence of Olivier Giroud, the Arsenal strike force did seem depleted while others like Sanchez cannot fill that void of a strong centre forward. Theo Walcott’s injury means the England international will be unavailable for further period of time, which does not help Wenger’s cause either.

Vargas began his career at Cabreloa as a youth player, and signed up on a professional contract in 2006. After a three-year spell, the 24-year old moved to Universidad de Chile, where he spent two seasons until Napoli signed him in 2012.
