Arsenal Eye Morata

Arsenal Eye Morata

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata is a hugely wanted man this summer. The 23-year-old has impressed the footballing world over the last couple of seasons and is likely to become one of the transfer window’s high profile signings (again).

Real Madrid have already activated a £23.5million buy-back clause on the forward, taking him back from Juventus whom Los Blancos sold the striker to for £16million just 2 years ago. However, it is widely acknowledged that Madrid have only done this so that they could sell him on once again to make a profit.

Many top clubs have enquired about the striker, including Arsenal.

Arsenal have failed to sign Jamie Vardy this summer after the striker turned down the offer to join the Gunners, but fans would surely be delighted at the prospect of signing Morata instead.

Spanish newspaper Marca reported Real Madrid will demand £57.8million if they decide to sell him on again, a demanded fee which may well turn out to be much lower.

Although it is unclear what direction Morata will take, it is likely that he will look towards a move to the Premier League this summer.

“Now I am thinking only of the European Championship. I worked hard, and I’ve been through many bad times to do so, now I can only enjoy and work hard to win it. What I want is to play, be happy, to feel important.” said Morata.

“We’ll see what happens, although it is something that does not depend so much on me. But I have the ambition to keep winning titles and finish in a good destination.”

His agent has also spoken out:

“He still has offers from top clubs in the Premier League.”

“We’ll see, we have to talk to [Real Madrid head coach] Zidane. But for the moment Morata is happy. Whether he’ll stay or not, you have to ask Real Madrid.”

“But as things stand he’s a Madrid player from 1 July.”
