Arsenal Down To Bare Bones Ahead Of Must Win Tie

Arsenal are down to bare bones in terms of squad numbers, as the medical staff will be busy with three first team players ahead of their crucial Champions League clash against Galatasaray at the Emirates Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners came out on the wrong side of a two goal thrashing at the hands of Borussia Dortmund in Germany as the side lost their opening Champions League tie of the group stage. The game further enhanced the need for the side to replenish their defensive numbers, as it again gave way to more goals. Young Calum Chambers joined the club not expecting to play a regular role immediately in the heart of the defence, as Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny continue their presence in the squad. But the England international has been put straight into the starting eleven, and has been exposed to serious European football in his first season at the club.

Club captain Mikel Arteta has been a medium term absentee as he also missed out on the side’s clash against Dortmund, and will again miss their home clash against Galatasaray. Jack Wilshere had also been ruled out but may now be fit, while the latest player to join the sick-bay is Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman has been pivotal to Arsenal’s play in the final third, and will be a big miss when the Turkish giants visit tonight.
