Arsenal Could Lose Chuba Akpom To Rivals Liverpool

Arsenal will have a tough time keeping young prospect Chuba Akpom around after Liverpool decided to set up a transfer offer for the 19 year old. The striker who is probably going to make the step towards England’s national team, has yet to be sent in as a first choice for the Gunners’ attack. Wenger only offered him the chance to perform a couple of minutes in the FA Cup and make some sporadic appearances at the end of some Premier League games. According to Metro, even though the youngster has been a team regular for Arsenal’s U21 team he is now close to moving to Liverpool.

The 19 year old forward is not lacking in offers as City, Dortmund and Twente are also keen on the Gunner who has yet to come to an agreement with Arsenal. His current agreement ends in June when he is very likely to leave if Wenger does not come up with a tempting proposal. Akpom is considered one of Arsenal’s most promising products and it would be a shame to lose him especially to a rival club like Liverpool or City. The problem is that unlike Twente or even Dortmund, the North Londoners do not have the option of telling him he will become a team regular. Even though he is extremely talented, he has pace and he is very strong, he is far from being on the same level with Giroud and Welbeck who are Wenger’s main choices.
