Arsenal Continue Negotiations For William Carvalho

The Gunners continue their hunt for a versatile defensive midfielder. After Song left for Barcelona and has since signed a loan deal for a season with West Ham United, Arteta took over but things were not the same. Arsenal have been missing a player with excellent defensive skills to hold the front while Wilshere, Ozil and Ramsey are up front looking to find the net. According to Metro, Carvalho is the number one target for the January transfer window. It was hard to sign him during the summer when Sporting were insisting on selling the 22 year old for double what Arsenal were offering. Unfortunately for the Portuguese side, no club has even gotten close to being offered the amount they have requested initially.

Carvalho who has increased in value immensely over the last season, has a buy-out clause of £37million which no one seems keen on paying. Luckily for Arsenal, Sporting are in desperate need of money so the price will no longer be calculated in reference to the buy-out clause.

Wenger has already started making the necessary arrangements for Carvalho to move to London during the summer. Arsenal will be fighting Manchester for the 22 year old midfielder who could take Fellaini’s place on Old Trafford.

Even though the transfer period ended, Arsenal are still continuing negotiations for Carvalho who is expected to move to North London in January. The Gunners are in great need of someone of his quality especially with Arteta already suffering an injury during the first few fixtures of the season. Hopefully things will go down a bit different in 2015 than they did this summer.
