Arsenal Closing In On Unexpected Transfer Target

The rumors that Szczesny is going to leave Emirates are becoming more and more believable with time. It appears that Ospina will no longer be the only world class competitor for the Polish keeper who could be faced with battling Hugo Lloris for a spot in the starting eleven. According to Metro, Wenger has set his eyes on Tottenham’s keeper who has been contemplating a departure for the past two seasons or so. The Frenchman is not happy with the ways things are going with Spurs and will probably leave as soon as he gets a chance.

Lloris who came to London back in 2012 is still under contract with Spurs until 2019. Despite his differences with the club, it will be very difficult to sign him. With an asking price similar to that of Paulista who cost Wenger half of the announced transfer budget, the French international seems as hard to sign as Casillas or Valdes who were both on Arsenal’s radar.

One solution would be to sell Szczesny who is out of grace after a series of poor representations and some disciplinary mishaps that cost him a place in the starting eleven. Even though he is similarly priced to Lloris, the 24 year old is out of form and could be considered too expensive. His contract is set to expire in 2018 and he has already been pushed by Poland’s manager to look for an alternative in order to get more on pitch time.
