Arsenal transferred smart and spent enough to give them a fighting chance against giants like Chelsea or City who have enormous budgets. According to Metro, there were several reasons for which this summer can be considered a major success for the North Londoners.

The first thing that changed when comparing transfer campaigns, was the fact that Arsenal managed to act really fast. It was clear that they had already planned their strategy months before June. Wenger took care of most transfers and even handled some business while attending the World Cup in Brazil.

The second thing Arsenal did right was to make sure no spot is left uncovered. Even though they lost important players such as Vermaelen and Sagna, they still managed to bring in enough reinforcements to quickly cover the gaps which remained uncovered within the defensive line. They even signed a new goalkeeper who is definitely eager to impress which means competition for the stopper shirt will be fierce.

The third thing Arsenal did was to continue last summer’s pattern. They focused on key players and managed to land them. Sanchez is the star signing for Wenger who personally took care of everything.

One last thing that made this summer one of the most successful summers in over a decade was the excellent management which was clearly focused on improving the club in each and every way. The medical staff was changed, the debts were paid off and the team dropped players like Bendtner.

Not all fans agree but it has to be considered a massive improvement over previous seasons!
